Volnewmer vs Volformer: Understanding the Difference Between Standalone RF and Combination Skin Tightening

Volnewmer vs Volformer is one of the most common questions patients ask when exploring non-surgical skin tightening in Mumbai. The short answer: Volnewmer is a single radiofrequency technology, while Volformer is a protocol that pairs it with Ultraformer MPT, a focused ultrasound device. Both aim to stimulate collagen. They reach different layers and are planned differently.

What Is Volnewmer?

Volnewmer, made by Classys, uses 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency. The energy heats tissue from the papillary dermis to the reticular dermis, the upper and lower layers of the dermis, while continuous cooling protects the skin’s surface. That heat is meant to stimulate collagen, so firmness is expected to improve gradually over the weeks that follow. As a standalone treatment, it is typically considered when the main concern is skin firmness. Mild warmth during the session is possible.

What Is Volformer?

Volformer combines two Classys technologies in one plan: Ultraformer MPT and Volnewmer. Ultraformer MPT uses high-intensity focused ultrasound and can place heat at chosen depths from 1.5 mm to 13 mm, working beneath the skin where radiofrequency alone does not reach. Volnewmer then works on the dermis. Because the two use different energy types, the protocol is designed to address more than one aspect of lift and tightness across the face and neck. Volformer is available exclusively at our Bandra West clinic.

Standalone RF vs Combination Skin Tightening: Key Differences

  • Technology: one (radiofrequency) versus two (ultrasound plus radiofrequency)
  • Depth: the dermis versus the dermis plus deeper layers beneath the skin
  • Focus: skin firmness versus firmness and lift together
  • Planning: a single-technology plan versus a layered plan built around your face and neck

Which One Is Right for You?

There is no universal answer. Skin laxity, facial anatomy, age and goals all shape the choice, and neither option replaces surgery in every case. A combination is not automatically better; more technology only helps when your concern calls for it. At Dr. Marwah’s Clinics, every plan begins with a consultation, where our doctors examine your face and neck and tell you honestly whether you need one technology or both. Results build gradually and vary from person to person.
