The VBeam Prima laser at Dr.Marwah’s Clinic is now a permanent fixture for all your skin concerns.
Here’s everything you need to know to about the new Vbeam Prima:
What is Vbeam Prima?
Vbeam is a type of pulsed dye laser that treats skin issues related to blood vessels. Whether you have rosacea, spider veins, or port-wine stains, a Vbeam laser is a great treatment option. It has been FDA-approved and is used to treat these conditions for more than 20 years. Now, there’s a new and improved Vbeam laser out, called the Vbeam Prima.
What is Pulsed Dye Lasers?
Pulsed dye lasers are known as the “gold standard” for treating vascular conditions. They get their name from the fact that they have a lasing medium made from a specially formulated dye. They have been used to treat birthmarks, rosacea, red veins, telangiectasia (broken capillaries) venous lakes, haemangiomas, poikiloderma, Campbell de Morgan spots, cherry angiomas, and other red-colored skin lesions. The new laser is designed to treat these more effectively with less discomfort and less downtime.
Who is the ideal candidate?
Anyone with unwanted redness, rosacea, port wine stains, or facial or leg spider veins is a good candidate. We also use this laser to help resolve bruises after surgery or minimally invasive procedures. It also helps treat redness, red stretch marks, and scars caused by acne.
How is it new and improved?
The new Vbeam Prima has an additional laser wavelength (1064 nm) that can treat larger and deeper blood vessels. So now the two lasers are combined into one. In addition, the original 595 nm laser technology has been improved to allow it to deliver more energy to the tissue more efficiently.
The laser spot size is also larger, which increases the treatment speed and delivers energy to the skin more evenly. Most importantly, coupled with the contact cooling of the handpiece, the laser is safer to use. This handpiece protects the skin by keeping it cool as the laser energy is delivered to the target.
Does it hurt?
Pain is always variable from one individual to another but most patients find this treatment only mildly uncomfortable and very tolerable. We do not use numbing cream because it is unnecessary and can cause blood vessels to become smaller, making it more difficult to treat.
Is there downtime?
Redness, mild swelling, or puffiness can occur and will last 1–3 days. Bruising, though less likely, can also occur and can last several days to a week.
Dr. Marwah’s Skin, Hair, Laser & Cosmetic Centre is the first independent private clinic in Mumbai, Maharashtra to offer the new V Beam Prima treatment.
